My point I guess is do what works for you. Don't get all jacked up about numbers because someone else does. For the next few weeks I am going to try eating this way and see how I feel. It's a great time to try because it's the middle of winter and if things get fluffy, no one is going to see you in a bathing suit anyway! I'd love to hear if any of you think this makes sense or if I've just gone crazy (haha). On another topic-I'm looking for a good training split if any of you have one you'd like to share I'd be very grateful!
I've been thinking lately and wanted to know everyone else's thoughts. In the bodybuilding/fitness community men and women both seem to have a large focus on the amount of protein they eat. I always see lots of posts about how to make a protein muffin, pancake, mug cake, etc.. but why protein? It's a fact that our bodies cannot digest more than one gram of protein per pound of body weight, so why are there slim women consuming 200+ grams of protein a day?! I feel like bodybuilders eat more protein because they want to make sure the muscles they are building won't be lost in careless eating. Women also seem to cut their fats lower when they need it more than anyone, especially to be regular. Aside from proteins and fats, carbs are the number one thing we need to function. If we are consuming way more protein than we can even digest to make up our calories, why not eat carbohydrates... something we can use to our benefits! Think about the amount of energy we would all have to set PR's! If you are trying to lean out for a competition or a vacation, I can see where it would make sense to lean out a bit instead of holding the water weight. But for most of us, it seems pointless. Since I recovered from an eating disorder my mind is always worked up about numbers. Only a certain number grams of this or my carb percentage can't be over __ percent. The more I think about it, that's all wrong. I should eat enough protein to meet my needs, enough fat for my needs, and fill the rest with carbs. When people are bulking they have tons of energy and feel their best because they eat CARBS. I've seen some actually get excited about reaching over 300, 400, or 500 carbs a day. They always are ready to go to the gym and workout because they feel good and have the extra energy!
